M.S., Family Nurse Practitioner

Family nurse practitioners are in high demand. We educate professional nurses to use existent and emerging research and scholarly knowledge to provide expert therapeutic services to clients to expand patient education and to improve primary care nursing practice within a caring-healing framework.  

The Family Nurse Practitioner Program includes a 42-credit hour curriculum and 600 clinical hours over three semesters. Students usually complete the program in 2½ years of full-time study or 3½ to 5½ years of part-time study. Clinical course placements are available throughout the New York City metropolitan area.

These courses provide the theoretical framework and knowledge base for the advanced practice nurse within a holistic philosophy and perspective. The focus of these courses is to examine the health care delivery system, theoretical foundations for practice, research design and methodology, and advanced role development.
